Let’s travel back to the 1950s and see
what it’s like to dress in the way they did. The fashion in this era varied
from beginning to end. It wasn’t as extreme as the 1960s but 50s fashion introduced
a lot of many new styles that people didn’t ever see during that time.
Beginning in the 1950s people didn’t feel
the importance to conform to a certain look anymore. They began to feel a
little freedom.
The waistline was the main
issue in the 1950s. Some women liked the tight fit while other people liked no
waistline. Some people loved the sheath dresses who’s narrow and straightness
with pleating gave the illusion of a slimmer waist. You can wear this either
for the day or the night.
In the spring when the slim dress until the knees flared
into pleats and developed the full flare skirt. In the evenings they swung into
heavy pleats from the knees and below that were simpler sheaths. The skirts
remained narrow and jackets took a flare too and were taken in at the waist.
Skirts were a big thing in the 1950s. It brought a sense of
freedom to the people. They didn’t feel the need to look a certain way anymore.
The pleated skirt made people have a slimmer silhouette. And you can pair it
with a cute blouse and shoes.
