Boot Brigade

I know I said it officially started fall a few day ago on my last post, but today it officially started. It RAINED. Every girl today put away their sandals and put on their boots. There was definitely a boot brigade around school today. Now with the cooler weather, boots are now in.

There’s multiple kind of boots. Ankle boots (booties), knee high boots, and lace up (combat) boots too. Boots also come in different materials and patterns. There’s leather, knitted, suede, and many more. They come in many patterns too. Solid color, or polka dots, or striped.

You can wear boots with pretty much anything for fall. If you want a more laid back look you can pair booties with some skinny jeans and a flowy blouse. Or you can wear knee high boots with jeans and a flannel. You can also pair boots with a dress and some tights. If you want to dress up the boots wear a cute dress and boots. Or you can wear them with leggings and pair it with a blouse, blazer, and a scarf. You can wear boots with anything because they mainly come in neutral colors. So you can wear bright colors and balance it out with the neutral color of the boots. For a more edgy look you can wear combat boots and wear them with a one-color outfit. I mean who doesn’t love an all-black outfit right?

Boots are in for fall. Wear them simply with jeans or dress them up with a dress. So put your sandals away and put on your boots and step into the cooler weather and become a part of the boot brigade.

Romp it up!

Today was a cooler day and reminded me of how summer is over. I know summer has ended but I’m taking you back. Back to the romper. This piece of clothing is super comfy and super easy to dress up or down. It is very versatile.

The romper can come in many different prints and patterns. You can rock it during the day and at night. If you want to rock it during the day you have endless options to what you want to wear. It’s like a flowy dress but comfy. They come in different styles too. They have long silhouettes and short silhouettes and silk fabric ones and color block ones too!

There’s something freeing about wearing a piece of clothing that you don’t have to put on separately and worry about finding a shirt to match with your shorts.  You can just put on the romper and you’re already stylin’. You can look so feminine and also bold. To look feminine you can wear a lace romper with some cute flats or to be bold you can do an all leather romper and pair it with some combat boots.

This trend is so comfortable and freeing. You don’t feel so constricted and you feel so free. Go back to summer for a second and be stylin’ in a nice romper. Look subtle or go bold and amp up the one piece jumpsuit that will have you rocking the latest summer trend.

ATHLeisure

This weekend was a busy weekend. I went to an A’s vs. Giants game. Everyone was supporting their own team. And of course I was supporting the Giants (they won by the way). So I got inspired by everyone’s sportswear and decided to write about being comfortably sporty. This is looking sporty yet comfortable. It encompasses a number of comfortable looks and casual wear for a sporty occasion. This is the most laid back trend of the season.

At the game many people had shorts, a sports t-shirt, and tennis shoes. You can dress it up or down.
Here are some different ways to look comfortably sporty.

You can wear jogger’s sweats (they come more fashionable now) and pair it with some texture. And if you’re want to spice it up, be fierce and pair it with some heels. It will elevate your whole looks. Go from drab to fab.

You can wear a blazer with a baseball cap. Pair these high and low items together and you won’t look like you just came out of the gym.
Pair some high wasted sweats with a fitted top. You need to have balance if you want to work this outfit on the streets.

You don’t have to look like you just came out of the gym to rock this look. It’s all about the details for the athletic trend. You can pair sports inspired items to still rock the athleisure trend.

So don’t look like you just stepped out of the gym. Amp up your sporty look with this trend.

Flare it Up

Skinny jeans out, flare in. Take a break from the skinny silhouette and get into the flare to flare it up. Flare it up. Elongate your legs and wear them with heels or wedges. The flare jean has been here since the 70s and its cool and groovy (no pun intended).

The flare was originally worn by boat workers in the seventeenth century. They became popular by Sonny and Cher in the 70s. Back then they were flared from the knee down with leg openings of twenty-six inches. Music also ignited this fashion. Most artist took up the glam and flare and changed up their look in the 70s.

Flare jeans are back for the fall season of 2015. You can also pull off this bohemian vibe with flare pants that have abstract patterns. Skinny jeans are well come on…boring. The flare makes your waist slimmer and makes you actually looked dressed. Comfortable and polished. Skinnies are made for you to blend in but flares are made to make you stand out. Although there are some things to avoid when you want to flare it up. Here are some tips: no overly long tops and heels make your legs ten times longer when you’re wearing flares. Flare it back up in style. Put on those jeans and a basic tee and you’ll be walking down the street in confidence. So flare it up this fall and stand out. You weren’t born to be boring.

PLAID and Simple

Plaid is a new piece that is starring on the runway. Especially red plaid. Seeing all black on the runway this fall, this red plaid was making a statement. From 90s grunge to a sporty look, a flannel is so controversial. It looks good with anything you pair it with. You can dress it up or dress it down.

To dress it up you can pair it with a lace shirt or dress. OR to dress it down you can pair it with jeans and tie it around your waist. It can make a plain outfit livelier. It adds contrast and pattern to your outfit. OR for a more grunge and mysterious look, you can pair it with dark solids. You can make a bold statement by having a specific piece of clothing, for example a plaid skirt paired with a solid colored blouse or just a plaid patterned dress. Plaid is also very comfortable. If you like being comfortable but stylish at the same time plaid is the way to go.

Plaid was in style back then and is still in style now. It will always be a great piece to have in your closet for any season. It can dress down or dress up any plain piece in your closet. It is plaid and simple.

Overall I'm Happy

The jean pant suit with no sleeves. The overalls. Just paired with a shirt and tennis shoes. You usually see them on farmers or railroad truckers. Back then they were used as protective over garment. But in today’s fashion it’s a modern twist. Today it’s a fashion statement.

Since the 1960s, different colors and patterns of overalls have been worn by young people of both male and female, often with one of the straps worn loose along the side and under the arm. The overalls fashion trend among American youth peaked in the late 1970s, and again for females in the late 1990s.

Today it is mainly worn by women and a lot more stylish. They can have ripped holes or studs on them to make more of a statement. Or they can have slimmer fit and boot cut length. They are a lot less than the plain Jane over all back in the 1960s. They have reinvented the overalls by pairing it with fierce clothing statements. You can pair it with stripped shirts or crisp white blouses. You can dress in street style or wear them to work. Just style them with a flannel and wear a blazer with it and you’ll be set to start the work day fiercely. Whether you are going to work, casual day in, or going out for the night this 1960 garment is so controversial. Overalls are back in. And this is a must have in your closet this year.

FALLing for the Turtleneck

Today was a gloomy day outside. It’s starting to feel like fall. The sky is changing and the leaves will start to change too. When you think of fall you think of warm clothes and boots. When you think of warm clothes you think of long sleeves. But do you think of long sleeves with a high neckline? Yes, the turtleneck. It’s all old fashion trend but a good one; an oldie but a goodie.

It started in the 19th century the turtle neck was worn by philosopher, artists, and intellectuals and became a fashion for wealthy men, in Europe. In America in the 1920s it was absorbed into mainstream fashion and the turtleneck came to be viewed as an anti-tie, a smart form of dress for those who rejected formal wear. By the late 1950s the “tight” turtleneck was for preppy girls. It was a picture of poise and arrogance. The turtleneck elongate the neck and accentuate the face.

For before fall you can wear a turtle neck without sleeves during the warmer months and to still be cool during the days before fall. It’s a sheer tank top with a twist. A twist of accentuating your neck and pairing them with a short is a modern twist.

For the fall season. In today’s fall fashion they are pairing it with a dress. Or they are paired with the traditional dress pant or skirt. There’s a more a contrasted look then to what we are used to seeing them as. Such as turtle necks with stripes or prints or exaggerated collars.

Come back from summer in style by going back to the old-fashioned turtle neck. You’ll be dressing the part of the new trend on the block.

80s Prom

The biggest night of your junior or senior year, Prom. Yes, you have the shoes and makeup, but everyone is going to be talking about your dress so it has to be beautiful. It’s the most important part of your outfit. We girls want to look our best for the biggest night of or high school career.  It was like that even in the 80s. The 80s had some of the most ionic trends that still exist today and I’m talking about the classic 80s prom dress.
These prom dresses went all out. Literally putting anything and everything you can put on it. From ruffles, padding, tulle, polka-dots, and sequins. You name it and 80s dresses have it. These prom dresses had particular characteristics to it. There’s the all-over ruffle dress. The more ruffles the better. Or the 80s classic of poufy sleeves and the big bow in front on the side of your waist. This was a popular one. There’s the tea-length dress. Those were very popular in the 80s. Or the metallic dresses. It was a dress that was a shiny metallic color. You made shoes to match the color of your dress. Everything was bigger and better in the 80s; even the hair. The hair was as loud as the dresses. Hair=big and poufy.

The “bigger” the “better” for the 80s was the trend back in those times. Expressing through ruffles, sequins, and big hair. And to complete the look of your big ruffled dress was a nice party filled with rock and roll.

Haute Couture

They say if you love it you want it. Now all you have to do is style it. Your style is your identity and makes you who you are. Lets go back a few hundred years to the 1890s. The time and rise of Haute Couture. The top Parisian fashion. The words literally mean "high fashion." It was high fashion indeed. The clothes of this time were tailored and fitted to the woman. It was handmade garments put together with intricate detail in every stitch. Every stitch is hand made and every garment is sewn by hand. These dresses were made for high class society. And this was the style for Parisians.

This fashion is still here today. Paris still has Haute Couture Fashion shows. The clothing is made to wear but still with the intricate detail of the couture. There are different clothing designed to be fitted to your body. It’s just more modernized. There are clothes with intricate detail and fabric just more modernized. One of the best designers still known today makes the most expensive haute couture clothing. Her name is Coco Chanel. She made luxury comfortable. She is known for tailored suits and the little black dress. In today’s fashion, clothes still have detail and garments that come together to make it couture. Just the difference is that most clothes aren’t custom made today. The haute couture of the 1890s is still a trend today with intricate detail and certain clothes tailored to fit.
